PROBLEMS NOTED

In Conakry we observe not only a level of prevalence of diseases linked to water (cholera, malaria, etc.) and air (respiratory disease) higher than the country average, but also and above all a lack of urban planning and application of the regulations in this area. The management of wastewater, rainwater and solid waste are among the priority problems to be solved in the capital of Guinea.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

The project aims to develop and structure a sanitation plan for the city of Conakry in the areas of rainwater, wastewater and solid waste management and propose a phase of priority works, subject of a request for proposals to submit to the IDB for financing.

SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Update of rainwater management studies (2009-2012);
  • Preparation of summary preliminary project technical studies (APS), economic and environmental studies of the rainwater, wastewater and solid waste sanitation project for the city of Conakry (PAC)
  • Return of the results to the IDB and the Guinean authorities and finally,
  • Support from the IDB for the preparation of a project document to be submitted for approval to the Board of Directors at the end of 2017.

ANSWERS PROVIDED

A coherent sanitation plan in the field of liquid and solid sanitation for the improvement of basic sanitation services for the populations of the city of Conakry.
